McCAIN MEETS NEW SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES CORPORATION ADMINISTRATOR
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Senator John McCain (R-AZ), Chairman of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, met with Kate Moore, COO of the Schools and Libraries Corporation and Cheryl Parrino, CEO of the Universal Service Administrative Service. Following is Senator McCain's statement:
"I was pleased to meet with Ms. Moore and Ms. Parrino to discuss the future of the Schools and Libraries Program. I stated that I was very pleased that the FCC has implemented my proposal to fund the neediest schools first. We also agreed about the importance of restoring congressional confidence in the program.
"While I remain concerned about the source of funding for the program, the new leadership causes me to believe that this program will be successful and last long into the future. I look forward to working with them, I hope that their ongoing efforts will assure that those who receive the funds and those who pay for them will benefit to the greatest extent possible."
